The Blues

After spending the last ten days with my mom in the hospital, I am ready to work on Love Entwined. While I sat with her, I embroidered on the center panel of Phebe but am ready for a little break from it and really would like to stay current on Love Entwined.

Sewing/quilting has always been a stress reliever for me but right now, its causing a little more stress in my life. Unfortunately, I am not liking my color choice for the blue triangles around the compass. Even my husband thinks they look too bright. What do you think?

If I use a different fabric, I'd really like to use one of the fabrics from my stash so here are some possibilities. I've already eliminated the stripes. I'd really like to use a stripe but these are too brown.

The only fabric that's really speaking to me is the upper right hand fabric but I think it may be too dark.

So, I'm open to suggestions. Use the bright blue, use one of fabrics from my stash or keep looking?

I don't think the blue is too bright - especially if you use more of it in the outer parts of the quilt later in - that will tie everything all together.

I struggled with the selection of these triangle for my quilt as well and ended up making a change too. Still not convinced of my own choice yet but back to yo. ;) I personally like the one one the upper left and it would be fun to fussy cut those swirls in the center of each triangle. Just a thought but you really need to go with your gut!

The brighter blue is just fine, give the piece some zip. A lot depends on what the rest of the quilt is going to be?

I think the blue is lovely, not bright at all. It lifts the compass. I like all your other choices too Mayleen, Welcome to my nightmare lol

I don't think the blue you have used is too bright either but then again I know that photos don't always 'ring true'. If you really want to change I like the fabric with the small print 2nd in from the bottom left. Good luck :)

Your up close, in-person view is probably different than what we are all viewing in the blog photo. Our view looks good!!!! The blue looks good!!
Sorry to hear about your mom, so stressful, especially being in a hospital. Hope you can find some down time to relax and relieve the stress. Spending time gazing at your hibiscus is a start!!

It's so hard to tell on a computer monitor. Do what your heart says. Maybe cut some small pieces of your stash fabrics for a better audition? It's lovely!

I think the blue you have chosen is not too bright, but if you are unhappy with it then I would keep looking. The right piece is out there, I'm sure you will make the right choice!!!

Personally I think that the blue is just perfect. It adds great colour deoth to the other fabrics and a touch of pizzazz. Do some more of the quilt before you change anything. Cheers Lynne

Love the lively blue u have used. Looks like a rather small triangle so the solid or mottled is a great choice....bur you have to like it.
